Our day with Mat

Since Mat completed his first 30 days he earned a day pass. We picked him up at 9:00 A.M. In 30 days he has put on 21 pounds. He definetly looks much better. I teased him that he has man boobs. Obviously the food in there is great and it helps that there are three chefs in the program that are constantly whipping up delectable meals and desserts.
We came home so Mat could see it for the last time. In the afternoon we went to see "Iron Man II". On the way back home from the movie Mat said he was feeling 'anxious'. I talked about grilling chicken for dinner then maybe kicking back for an evening movie before we had to get him back by 10:00 P.M. A short while later Mat said that if we did'nt mind he'd like to go back right after dinner. He was feeling a little overwhelmed. When we took him back about 7:00 we met several of his new friends, hugged and said our "I love yous" and we drove home.
I guess our home represents a lot of pain to Mat. He's not the only one.
Mat has made some good progress, but his journey to recovery is far from over. I pray every day that he will get healthy. Every single day.

Gettin' Bitchy! From Deb 05/27/2010

Oh my God! We are getting down to the wire and soooo much left to do. Then I get an absessed tooth. Back to the dentist to spend more $$$. I have no time for pain but none-the-less, there it is and poor Rob is getting bitched at. What else am I going to do, Kick the dog?

In the midst of our chaos we are being visited daily by a mother bear and her three cubs (maybe ten pounds each). The mother is a little bitchy also, she must be REALLY hungry. She stomped her foot at Rob so he yelled at her to let her know who's property she was on. Keep checking on here, Rob has some great video he'll be putting on.

From Deb 05/19/2010

The countdown has begun. Our days are filled with sorting stuff, cleaning stuff, stuff stuff so much stuff. I don't want my stuff to be sold dirty. I am a cleaner by nature, why is all my stuff so dirty? Take a picture off the wall, it's dirty. Move a bookshelf, my God there's crap hanging all over the back of it and on the walls!!

What to sell and what to throw is bone of contention between Rob and I. Who is going to buy the lampshade with a fist size hole in it? (a doggie mishap) I say throw, he says sell. Then I find it repaired with duct tape, now that's much better. Holy crap, I'm going to have to hide during the auction.

We've also been spending a great deal of time at doctors appointments. We're trying to get everything covered before we hit the road. Pap smears ,mamograms, eye exams, endocrinologists, veterinarians,(special documents are required for your pets if you cross the borders into other countries) and of course the dentist. Between the two of us we dropped about $6000 at the dentist alone!!!! There is a strong case to be made for going with dentures. Denistry has come a long way, they have been become great salespeople.

Let's Get Started!! 05/18/2010

Time to get everyone on the same page. To protect the guilty I will not at this time and place name names,(you know who you are). After several years of life raining on our parade, from people dying(you know who you are), to illnesses (actual and perceived), to forced career changes, marital dramas (not ours), financial pitfalls, and drug addiction (not ours), it was time to save ourselves. We're outta here!
For the last 3 months we have gone through the painstaking process of going through every thing we own to get ready for our Absolute auction scheduled for June 5th, 2010 at 9:00 A.M. 97% of every thing we have will be sold!! 2.5% will go in our new 5th wheel RV and .5% will go into permanent storage How Freeing! How Horrifying! What, are we friggin' crazy?! Yep.
We have decided to hit the open road, go places we've never been, experience things we have always wanted to, visit people who have long been neglected (promise, we won't stay longer than a month plugged into your power and water!). The plan is to stay out there until we feel recharged again, maybe up to two years. Then we'll have decided where to set up camp again.
The dogs are coming with us! Our two Labradors, Bear and Mollie, and our 3 lb. Chihauhau,
Hershey.
This should be interesting gang, so we invite you to visit here often and come along on our adventures.
