Edgar Evins State Park

Ok so we were a little rushed when got all of our reservations back in order for the first part of the trip. It is 4th of July week and open campground spots are a little hard to come by. The 8000 acre state park is beautiful and built on the side of a mountain. The camping spots are wooden platforms jutting out over the side. They say the maximum size rig is 33 feet. We showed them, we squeezed our 40 ft rig right in here. I don't think anyone will run into the part that hangs out into the road.
I guess riding bikes can hold off until the next location, or I could ride down the mountain and Rob could come pick me up.
The lake is a little strange, not a beach on it. So much for setting up our lawn chairs, a cooler of cold beverages and watching the dogs frolic in the water. Laura is joining us today while Jack goes to a meeting. I know she's looking forward to hot day in the sun on the water. That's ok, we can take the canoe and paddle out and jump in when we get hot. Course once we jump in we'll have to push the canoe back to shore and start the whole process all over again. I guess that's why pontoon rental on this lake is BIG business and there's not one to be found.
It's ok that we can't get a satelite signal, who needs TV anyway. This trip was all about comuning with nature, although I was planning on a slow withdrawal. We still have the internet thanks to our Verizon air card(we're not getting paid for that plug, yet.)

On The Road!

We officially got on the road after my hair apt. at about 10:15 this morning. After checking on how everything was driving Rob told me I can't stock up on all the food staples like I did. We don't need the extra weight from the extra sodas, canned goods, bottled water, dog food bags, cases of beer, etc. It's not like we'll ever be far from civilization, he says.. I guess my Sam's Club days are over.
We are on our way to Center Hill Lake, TN. right outside Nashville where our dear friends Jack and Laura live. We'll be here until July 7th, then to Memphis for three days, then Branson,MO for 3days,Council Bluffs,IA for one night and on to the Corn Palace Rodeo in Mitchel, SD for 3 days. We will be joining our Kugler families in Osakis, MN the 19th of July for our camping reunion!

Working it out

Some say things happen for a reason. I think I have even said it. Fact is, things just happen. Then we find the reason. Still looking.

We have had a harrowing last week and a half to say the least. But, it appears as though we are going to come out of this just fine. Some day when we are face to face if you need more details we will illucidate, suffice it to say some BIG lessons have been learned.

We will be blogging again which means we are going to hit the road!! We should be pulling out of here by June 30th and we'll be pulling this circus to a town near you. Stay tuned.

We rolled the dice and we got Snake Eyes

Because we are still in shock, because we are are trying to make sense of the enormous boondogle we find ourselves in, we are at a loss for words. It is an understatement to say the auction was a failure. All plans have come to a screeching halt in terms of travel.
Lesson #1. In the current marketplace, do NOT do an auction to dispose of things, for sure not an absolute auction. The only people that show up are bottom feeders.
If our son Patrick had not come riding up on a white horse, our house and 10 acres would have sold for $280,000. What the !?$#*&&%$@!!!
This is but the tip of the iceberg.
I will not turn this blog into an enormous pity party, that was NEVER it's intent. I was so very convinced and believed with all my heart and soul that we doing the neccessary things to right our de-railed train, called our life.

We are back to the drawing board. We are down but we are not out.

I will not post here any longer, no point.

OH MY GOD,the day draws near!!

This week we have worked ourselves to the bone, literally. Rob cut himself severely on the top of his hand, got several stitches and his hand is splinted for 12 weeks. Our auctioneer contracted Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, but two other auctioneers will be here. When the auction company arrived yesterday they said, "we didn't know you had so much stuff! we should have been here yesterday!!" Be still my heart.
Today from noon to 5:00 people come to preview and tommorrow 7-9 a.m. Then the action begins. (and auction)
Every time Pat comes over his mantra is "this is crazy". Is it? We'll soon find out. Stay tuned.
